Our Commitment

AKB Inc. is committed to making our website and digital services accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe the web should be a place where every visitor can find what they need, whether they’re looking for a storage unit, inquiring about a construction project, or applying for a lease.

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA (opens in new tab), which are internationally recognized standards for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and mobility impairments.

What We’ve Implemented

Our website is designed with accessibility in mind. Specific features include:

  • Keyboard navigation: We are improving keyboard access across links, buttons, forms, and menus so visitors can use the site without requiring a mouse.
  • Semantic HTML: Pages are built with proper heading structure, landmark regions, and labeled form fields, so screen readers can interpret content accurately.
  • Color contrast: Text and interactive elements are designed to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
  • Resizable text: Most site text now respects browser text-size settings, and we are continuing to remove fixed-size text styles that can limit full 200% text-resize support.
  • Descriptive link text: Links describe their destination rather than relying on generic phrases like “click here.”
  • Form labels and validation: Every form field has a visible, associated label. Required fields are marked, and error messages describe what needs to be corrected.
  • Responsive design: Content adapts to different screen sizes and orientations, supporting mobile, tablet, and desktop users including those using screen magnification.
  • Alternative input methods: We do not rely on drag-and-drop, hover-only interactions, or time-based interactions that would disadvantage users of assistive technology.

Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is designed to work with commonly used assistive technologies, including:

  • Screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver
  • Screen magnification software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Keyboard-only navigation
  • Browser zoom and high-contrast modes

We review compatibility with these tools as part of ongoing accessibility maintenance and address issues as they are identified.

Known Limitations

We work to maintain an accessible site, but despite our best efforts, some areas may still present challenges. Known limitations include:

  • Third-party content: Some pages may link to external services, such as our online storage rental platform or payment processor, which are operated by third parties. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of those external sites, but we select providers that prioritize accessibility wherever possible.
  • Document accessibility: Some PDF documents or offering memoranda linked from our site may not yet meet full accessibility standards. We are working to remediate these documents and will provide accessible alternatives on request.
  • Imagery: We are in the process of replacing placeholder images with production photography. Final imagery will include descriptive alternative text.

Ongoing Improvement

Accessibility is a continuous process. We review our site regularly, train our team on best practices, and incorporate user feedback into our updates. When we identify barriers, we work to resolve them as quickly as reasonably possible.

Physical Accessibility

Our office at 335 Garfield Street, McMinnville, Tennessee, is accessible to visitors with mobility needs. Our self storage facilities feature drive-up access at ground level. If you have specific accessibility needs for an in-person visit to any AKB Inc. property, please call ahead so we can accommodate you.
